Seoul National University of Education (SNUE) is one of the best schools in Korea for aspiring elementary school teachers. Founded in 1946, the school is known for its affordable tuition fee — under 1.6 million won per semester across all departments — compared to other schools in Seoul, which can be some 8 to 9 million won depending on the students’ majors. However, students do not immediately become teachers upon graduation. To do so, they must take the government teacher employment examination which gives them license to apply to the schools they hope to work at. The school is located in Seocho District, southern Seoul, and has its own subway stationon lines No. 2 and 3. The school welcomes international students on both undergraduate and postgraduate programs, with a number of scholarships available.
