Hanyang University was found in 1939 as Dong-A Engineering Institute, as Korea’s first educational institution teaching engineering. Due to its roots, the school is traditionally famous for its electronic engineering and automotive engineering majors. It continues to become an engineering-focused school, offering two-year scholarships for students in its so-called Diamond Program, which refers to students in the Department of Electronic Engineering, Department of Computer Science Engineering, Department of Energy Engineering, Department of Automotive Engineering, Department of Policy and Department of Finance. The university has two campuses, with its main campus in Seongdong District, eastern Seoul. Its second ERICA campus was opened in Ansan, Gyeonggi, in 1980. The ERICA campus offers similar majors to the main Seoul campus, but focuses more on industry-university cooperation.
