Gachon University, founded in 1939, has three campuses — Global Campus in Seongnam, Gyeonggi, Medical Campus in Incheon and Ganghwa Campus on Ganghwa Island, Incheon. The Global Campus is the biggest of the three and has 12 colleges. The Liberal Arts College has a department of Korean Studies which offers in-depth courses on Korea, including the Korean language, history, politics and economy. The Global Campus is located only about six kilometers from Songpa District, southern Seoul. Trips to the campus from southern Seoul take about 30 minutes by bus or subway.
