Baekseok Arts University is a Christian arts school located in Secho District, southern Seoul, specializing in music, design and cooking. Founded in 1983 as Chongshin Arts University, the school is a major college, meaning that it was established as a life-long education establishment where enrollment is not counted as college entrance, but received university status with an amendment to the law made in December 2007. The school partnerships with major arts institutes in and outside of Korea such as the Seoul Arts Center (SAC) and Berklee College of Music. The school's department of music is particularly popular, reaching up to 200 to 1 in enrollment applications, and it is one of a handful of colleges in Korea with a major in writing plays. Exhibitions and performances are held often by students, forming an overall liberal and artistic atmosphere. It is a two-year college, but may take a year or more to graduate depending on the major.
