Andong National University, founded in 1947, is the only national comprehensive university in the North Gyeongsang region and has 103 sister universities overseas. Andong, where the university is situated, is the largest city in North Gyeongsang and promotes itself as “the capital of the Korean spirit,” as it is known for traditional Korean cultural heritage. It takes around two hours to get to Seoul’s Cheongnyangni Station from Andong Station on the KTX bullet train.
